HMA Lovell Communications Announces New Leadership

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 3, 2025) – Amanda Maynord has been named CEO of Lovell Communications, an HMA Company, one of the nation’s leading health care communications strategy firms.

Becoming just the third CEO in Lovell’s 37-year history, Maynord succeeds Rosemary Plorin. Plorin became president of Lovell in 2014 and CEO in 2015, leading the company through several years of aggressive growth and shepherding the firm’s transition into Health Management Associates in 2023.

Previously a vice president at the firm, Maynord joined Lovell in 2013 and quickly proved herself to be a keen strategist and communicator. She has led Lovell’s transaction and crisis practice since 2020, helping clients navigate complex health care issues such as high-profile mergers and acquisitions, regulatory and criminal investigations, management crises and other reputation-threatening medical, financial and environmental events.

“Amanda is ‘all-in’ in everything she does,” said Plorin, who will now serve as a strategic advisor to HMA. “Whether she’s supporting our clients, managing our team or at a scouting event with her son, she always brings a rare blend of passion, practicality and intelligence. I look forward to watching the firm continue to thrive under her leadership.”

Maynord began her work in health care at Ascension Saint Thomas Health, one of the largest health care systems in Middle Tennessee. There, she honed her crisis and issues management skills while serving as communications coordinator, managing the system’s in-house response team during the 2012 multi-state outbreak of fungal meningitis. She previously held communications positions with the Tennessee Department of Education and Metro Nashville Public Schools. A native of Middle Tennessee, she began her career as a journalist with Nashville’s The City Paper.

“Health care is the economic and social backbone of so many U.S. communities, yet it is an incredibly vast and complex industry facing near constant change,” Maynord said. “I’m honored to work alongside a team of professionals whose quest for perfection leads to new and better ways to support the industry and help our clients across the country accomplish their goals.”

Lovell Communications was founded in 1988 by Paula Lovell, former Nashville journalist-turned-entrepreneur who established the firm’s strong reputation serving health care clients.
