Susanne Powelson is a skilled public relations professional with in-depth healthcare and public policy expertise. She brings extensive experience working with all segments of the industry, including health plans, hospitals, physicians, health IT and government. Powelson is recognized for delivering effective strategies to help organizations raise their visibility in the marketplace, protect the reputation of their brands and advance favorable legislation and regulation.

Powelson has provided media relations and crisis communications strategies for hospitals and other clients to address a range of issues, including mergers and acquisitions, executive leadership changes, product and patient safety issues, contract negotiations and other legal and regulatory matters. She has led a host of successful campaigns that resulted in significant improvements in brand reputation.

Powelson has also worked extensively on public policy strategies. She has delivered testimony to federal agencies and regulatory committees and maintains a strong understanding of healthcare reform and the factors that influence the quality and cost of healthcare.

Prior to joining Lovell Communications, Powelson held leadership positions at UnitedHealth Group, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, Emdeon and the State of Tennessee, as well as Trone Brand Energy, a full-service advertising agency.

Powelson holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She and her husband enjoy spending time in their backyard garden in pursuit of the perfect tomato.
