It's difficult not to feel the spirit of patriotism today. Whether you're at home, in the office, or out in the streets, you can't overlook the anniversary of September 11 - especially not if you have any connection to social media.
That was exactly the New York City Police Department's intention with its planned Web Tribute to honor the officers killed on September 11. Today, once per hour, the department will post messages to honor each NYPD fallen hero with links to individual memorial Facebook pages.
You can follow the department's Twitter @NYPDnews or view the posts by searching the tribute's official hashtag #neverforget.
The New York City Fire Department is also honoring those who were killed on 9/11 with a social media tribute. Throughout the day, @FDNY asks followers to share their thoughts with the accompanying #honor911 hashtag.
Twitter isn't the only social platform folks are taking to as a way to show patriotism and remembrance today. More than 4,000 photos on
Instagram are tagged #September11.
Throughout the day, people across the country will find ways to remember those who died on 9/11. Regardless of where you are, I hope you take a moment to think about our fallen heroes as well.
